The family of Terry Wogan, have set up a scholarship in UL in the sports department in his memory it was revealed this month. The scholarship is worth €10,000 a year for current or future students of the sports department in the University of Limerick.
Wogan, a BBC TV and radio presenter of great renown was a director of UL Foundation and had previously received a Honorary Doctorate of Letters from UL in his hometown of Limerick. His interest in sport was the reason for the scholarship being in the sports department.
One of Limericks most celebrated famous sons he had returned many times to Limerick in recent years before he passed away earlier this year.
