President M.D. Higgins will pay a formal visit to Murroe on Saturday the 23rd April at 11.45. He will plant a tree to commemorate 1916 and give a short speech. The President will be hosted in the village hall following the tree planting ceremony.
The full itinerary has now been released and the President is to be met with music at the war memorial monument in the Village.

He will be welcomed by local history enthusiasts and local leaders. A special brochure that reveals the role that the village played in the Rising in 1916 will be launched for the event. It is expected that the President will speak briefly to the people before departing.
