An honourary doctorate was bestowed upon, Rugby Player, Paul O’Connell by the University of Limerick on November 5th. His wife Emily, Son Paddy (5) and Daughter Lola ( 1) were also on hand to witness the ceremony at the University of Limerick. Dr O’ Connell was given a Doctorate of Science, a tribute to his studies in Computer Science at the University as well as his long history with the sports facilities at the University on its Plassey Campus.
“To get appreciated by your home university is something very special,” O’ Connell said.
“When you grow up in Limerick close to the city, UL ends up being a big part of your life,” he continued.
The honor has spurred several tributes to the former Irish International Captain from colleagues and the public alike.
